Is the Main Character Missing? Maybe Not.

Is the Main Character Missing? Maybe Not.

Dan Walsh, a 33-year-old technology manager in Dublin has posted doctored version of the comic strip "Garfield" on his blog from February. He thought it might amuse a few friends of his. Yet as many as 300,000 people come and see his version of Garfield to his site and recently, it has leveled off to 30,000 to 35,000 a day.
Walsh does nothing to the panels except strip away Garfield and other characters like Odie the dog and Nermal the kitten, to create a new, even lonelier atmosphere for Jon Arbuckle, the main human character. Walsh said that Jon's loneliness and sadness was already there and he just deepens it by taking out Garfield and others.
Jim Davis, the cartoonist who first created Garfield occasionally visits Walsh's site. He says that Walsh's strips are fascinating, that he is flattered rather than peeved by the imitation.

The following comic strip's real version, which first appeared in 2002, Garfield keeps Jon company in all three panels. In the middle one, Garfield thinks, “Oh sure,” and then in the third: “There’s the one about the 12-foot chocolate éclair...”

What Dan Walsh did is just a simple thing: taking out Garfield out from the comic strips. Yet it worked. It worked so well that way too many people are visiting his blog. A simple act that he did made a big difference. He would be able to make some money using this. Some companies would like to pay him some money and advertise on his site. In short, a simple Innovation, a great deal of benefit!
